Professional teeth whitening is an effective way to help remove stains, brighten your smile and boost your self-confidence. In today's blog our dentists explain how the professional teeth whitening process works here at Elgin Corners Dental in Surrey.
Teeth will naturally darken as we age, but a number of different foods and beverages can also stain or discolour our teeth. Teeth whitening is a non-invasive treatment that can quickly and effectively help to restore brilliance to your smile.
Professional Teeth Whitening
At Elgin Corners Dental our team of professionals offer our patients custom teeth whitening systems to help remove stains and whiten teeth.
Our professional tooth whitening treatment requires two visits to our Surrey dental clinic.
When you visit us for your first whitening appointment, impressions (molds) will be made of your teeth in order to create custom whitening trays that snugly fit your teeth.
At your second appointment, you will be provided with your custom whitening trays along with whitening solution, and full instructions on how to use the professional teeth whitening treatment in the comfort of your own home.
The Teeth Whitening Process
The trays are lightweight, and comfortable to wear. Your dentist will provide you with specific instructions for your whitening treatment, however typically patients wear the trays with the whitening solution either twice a day for 30 minutes or overnight for a couple of weeks depending on the degree of staining and desired level of whitening.
Treatment will take 10-14 days to achieve the desired level of whiteness. If you are unsure how white is white enough visit your Surrey dentist for advice.
After you have completed your treatment hang on to your whitening trays. That way, when it's time for a touch-up you will be able to reuse your trays. All you need to do is contact our office for more of the whitening solution.
Note: It is normal to experience tooth sensitivity during the time you are whitening your teeth, but it will subside shortly after you have completed your treatment. If you are experiencing side-effects from professional teeth whitening, contact our office for advice.
